Pedal-based power meters, designed and built in Italy.

Favero Assioma

Favero Electronics spent decades making precision sports electronics before putting a power meter inside a pedal. Assioma is the result.

Electronics for sport

Favero Electronics is a family-run company based in Arcade, in the province of Treviso in northern Italy. For more than 30 years it has designed and built electronic equipment for sport: FIBA-approved basketball scoreboards, timing systems, and the scoring apparatus used in competitive fencing. It is precise, dependable work where a wrong number is not an option, and that standard carried straight over when the company turned to cycling.

From bePRO to Assioma

In 2015 Favero brought that experience to cycling with bePRO, a dual-sided power meter built into a pedal. It was accurate, but fitting it took patience. Two years later Favero launched Assioma, a complete redesign. Installation became as simple as fitting any other pedal, a job of seconds with an Allen key, and Bluetooth joined ANT+, so the pedals talk to bike computers, phones and indoor-training apps alike.

How Assioma measures

Many power meters assume your pedal turns at a steady speed through each revolution. It doesn't: every rider speeds up and slows down through the stroke, and oval chainrings exaggerate the effect. Assioma's IAV system measures the pedal's actual speed at every point of the turn, keeping readings within ±1% whatever your style. A built-in gyroscope and cadence sensor mean there are no magnets or extra parts to fit.

Living with Assioma

The pedals run at least 50 hours on a charge and recharge with magnetic USB connectors that snap onto each pedal. The free Assioma app handles setup, calibration, crank-length settings and firmware updates, so the pedals keep improving after purchase. Beyond watts and cadence they report left/right balance and cycling dynamics: IAV Power Phase shows where in the stroke you produce power, and IAV Rider Position tells seated efforts from standing ones.

A pedal for every bike

The range covers road riders on Look Keo or Shimano SPD-SL cleats, and, with the PRO MX, mountain bike, gravel and cyclocross riders who use SPD. The Duo-Shi version puts Assioma's electronics into Shimano pedal bodies for riders who prefer them. Each model comes in a single-sided version that measures the left leg or a dual-sided version that measures both, and single-sided Assioma Uno pedals can be upgraded to dual-sided later.
